Now you have gone through the whole guide, good job! But this is just the beginning. Now it’s time to start acting on the information, insights, plans and hypotheses you have started to form. To help you get going, we want to end this guide by providing some further resources that might be helpful for you.
Learn more
This guide has covered the most central aspects and considerations about pursuing an impactful career. There is however much more to learn. Here are a few resources that can help you dive deeper into specific parts, and stay up to date with the latest research, material and insights in the EA space.
Engage with other aspiring world-improvers
Connecting with like-minded individuals can be of great value by providing an environment to discuss your ideas, be inspired by others, learn more, and increase your motivation. In Sweden, there are various groups that could provide such an environment, depending on your interests and geographical location:
EA Sweden
We provide support and connect individuals interested in the ideas of effective altruism. To begin with, you can join our Slack channel, our Facebook page, and check out our website for upcoming events.
Local EA groups
There are currently 8 university and city groups in Sweden: Uppsala Stockholm, KTH, Stockholm University, Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship, Göteborg, Linköping and Lund. Find contact details to each on EA Sweden’s website.
Cause area specific groups
There are also 3 groups focusing on a specific area: Nordic Biosecurity Group, AI Safety Gothenburg and Stockholm Center for AI Safety (SCAIS).
Further career support
It’s often hard to make fully informed decisions by ourselves. If you’d like to get input or make progress on your general career plan, or discuss a specific career decision you need to make, there are multiple resources available (all free of charge):
Career coaching with EA Sweden – Open for everyone to apply to.
Career coaching with 80,000 Hours – Open to everyone to apply to, but with a higher acceptance threshold than EA Sweden, and a stronger focus on global catastrophic risks.
High Impact Professional’s Impact Accelerator Program – A six week remote career planning program for professionals with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
The Centre for Effective Altruism’s Career Planning Program – A 6 week remote career planning program, open to everyone.
In addition, some local and cause area specific groups are offering relevant programs or fellowships. Find contact details to each on EA Sweden’s website.
We hope that this guide has helped you to become more informed about how you can use your career to do more good for the world, and increased your motivation to pursue an impactful career.
