What can one person do?

Throughout history there are people who have probably saved millions of lives in their professions. Stanislav Petrov is believed to have averted a possible nuclear war, Norman Borlaug’s research contributed to the “Green Revolution” that reduced starvation, and Viktor Zhdanov convinced the WHO to launch a campaign against smallpox, leading to the complete eradication of the dreaded disease. Even if few people will positively affect the world on that level, it highlights that individual people can have an enormous impact with their lives.

In addition to working directly with something impactful, you can make a difference with the salary you earn. In fact, if you’re living in Sweden, and reading this guide, you probably have a greater financial opportunity to make a difference than you are aware of.
