Highest priority

How would you use $500 billion to make the world the best it can be? Every year, governments, corporations, foundations and individuals spend large sums on cancer research, awareness campaigns and thousands of other projects aimed at doing good. $500 billion is a lot of money, but not enough to solve every problem. This means that we have to prioritize. Unfortunately, there is currently quite a bit of knowledge that can guide organizations and individuals. Research on global priorities uses methods and insights from political science, economics, mathematics, philosophy and other disciplines to examine how we should use our resources to improve the world as much as possible. We think it would be very valuable if more people worked on this.

Signe researches the best ways to do good

Signe is a lawyer and initially planned to work in a non-profit organization to make the world a better place. When she came into contact with the ideas presented in this guide, she began to consider more options. After surveying her career options, she chose the research path, and is today a doctoral student in practical philosophy at Lund University. Her work focuses on global priorities.

“My hope is to be able to contribute to valuable research that can be used to redistribute resources so that they do more good.”
